classic 1995 patrol

Post by ainsco »

Good evening members
Thank you for allowing me to join the group.
My name is George Ainscough, and i have recently acquired a 1995 Patrol SGL Y60.
I would like to give her a full service, and would like to know the recommended oils for the diffs, transfer case and gearbox, there are differing views ( as usual) on what types to use.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
I have midas, autozone and Goldwagen in my area.
Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi George;
1) MOST welcome in the family of PATROLLERS.
2) Congrats with the magnificent PATROL GQ
3) In my view there is NO better looking vehicle in this world than a RED GQ and you have it [me too]

OIL: Shell Helix H5 is fine but I only use Caltex DELO in my Patrol
Break Fluid: DOT 4 [any make, I prefer Spanjaard
Power Steering: ATF fluid [Automatic Gearbox oil any make]

as for Diff, Transfer and gearbox AND Anti Freeze4 - I use ONLY the NISSAN ones

But I am not the expert in the oil fields, Anthony and them will give you best advice

ENJOY you Patrol and hope to meet you on one of our regular outrides / trail/ weekend breakaways

MORE PHOTO's please

this mine ONLY RED WILL DO

Welcome :welcomewave: and congrats on your Patrol.
how about sharing some more pics of the beaut...

Engine oil: I use Shell Hx5 in my sgl, but any 15w40 would probably do. I am considering Delo 400 for my next service.
(My GQ on 456k km does not use a drop of oil  )
Oil filter: GUD z292
Diff oil: 80w90 GL5. (EP90 GL5 will also work)
Gearbox: 75w90 GL4
Transfer case: 75w90 GL4 or Dexron III ATF. (I have used 75w90 in all my Patrols).
Air filter: GUD ag1001
Petrol filter: fram g4777 or GUD e13
Spark plugs: bp5es
Points: Echlin CS351
Brake Pads: front: Fereodo FDB 643 / rear: FDB 937

Welcome George

The only things I want to add to the above isthat
1) Diff oil MUST BE EP-rated.
2) Best thing to do with the transfer case is to find out whether normal gear oil or ATF was previously used in your car and stick eith that. They smell and look distinctly different so it should be easy to figure out by just draining a little bit into a clear bottle.

Hope the car gives you lots of smiles for every mile.
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.
