It cost me R309-42 - but I had it airfreight to S.A. - on the web when you place your order there is an option for normal post as well - it was a bit cheaper but not that much really.
I am sure one should be able to local manufacture it - it is not really a piece of mechanical engineering that needs to be done - but I suspect you would need somebody like a metal machinist (don't know if that's the right name) to do it.
The hinge does not carry any weight - it is that little metal thing that the black plastic piece that slide in and out when you open and close the door is fixed to - this one is just a bit longer - so the fastening point is further outwards - and wella - your door opens wider. But yes Dup I hear what you say - you might as well just undo it completely and use a rubber stop preventing the door from getting damaged. Also an option
Has anyone else made one of these, if so can you post some pictures so I dont have to re invent the wheel. My measurements show it is only 8mm that it must be extended.
My old patrol (Pieter di Toits) had this mod imported from Australia. Now my new patrols door doesn't open all the way... turns out it is not meant too. Anyone want to do an engineering exercise and make some. You don't know how nice it is until you have it... trust me. i am sorry I didn't pull it off my old patrol.
Forgetting about drawer systems and fridge slides, just the better access if you only use the small door.

Many years back Grootseun here on the forum made a few of these for the guys. I don't know if he still has a few. He is in the Jhb area.
I'll send you a PM with his number. Tell him Cedric gave you his number. He does a lot of custom work too.... He's pretty damn good with a grinder and a vernier
