External oil cooler

I see some of these setups have a built in regulator in the adapter plate, where as some don't. So I'm a bit confused. Is it necessary for the regulator thingy?

Cedric, maybe the regulator (in the adapter) is in fact a thermal megafter? This is often added to the sandwich plate to prevent cold oil from flowing into the oil cooler, same principle as the thermostat that stops coolant from flowing into your radiator until it actually requires cooling down...

Yeah, when I look at the sandwich adapter, it looks like there is some kind of ball valve thingy ( presumably to regulate oil pressure into the oil radiator ), but it doesn't look like it does anything with temperature, but I may be wrong.

I think a good and cheaper replacement for the Nissan-system would be RACIMEX.
I have it in my Patrol, working perfect.

But I do not know, where it is available.

I think I might as well get an adapter plate with the thermostat built in. I will cost more to have them as separate pieces than together. Euro 80 x 13 (Rand exchange rate) = R 1040.00
I'm going to find out a price locally first.

So the oil cooler on a TD42 has been something all TD42 owners have spoken about at some point.

Im rebuilding a UD40 TD42 engine and noticed a very interesting setup they have. It seems like the later UD40 trucks powered with the TD42 engine has an oil cooler and it is a very very simple setup.

Its basically just a 12mm (I think) plate that you bolt inbetween the oil preasure regulator that sits on the exhaust side of the engine. It has two pipes on it that you can route to your front oil cooler and thats it....... cant be very expensive to buy from UD of to have them made up at an engineering shop.

There is a UD dealership in Samrand, but I have phoned them a couple of times for quotes on manifolds and other things and came right without a VIN number every time.

Will see If I can get a part number and price

When an oke's first question is "What is your VIN number" I immediately regard him as a Computer Screen Slave, not a parts "knowman"...

Funny, if your answer is I do not have the VIN number you immediately see in his eyes his own personal screen saver kicks in...or is it hibernation
