4.8 Motor / Any interest

Hi Guys
I am thinking about replacing my 4.8 motor with a diesel motor.
It has 124 000km on it and a full service history.
It will be without gearbox.
I can only do the swop to diesel if I know someone would be interested in buying my motor :think:

Gaan die diffs se rating nie ook 'n probleem dan wees nie want ek weet nie of die 4.8 en diesels dieselfde diff het nie.

Verkoop jou 4.8 en koop n diesel .....die grx 4.8 het baie dinge wat met met mekaar praat ....engine praat met ratkas ens jy kan jou kar verkoop vir 200k en n 4.2 turbo diesel in n 4.5 grx body inbou vir 50k maak meer sense vir my :mytwocents:
Of kyk uit vir n 30l diesel wat nog jonk is 2007 +
Sodra jy die 4.8 uithaal is daai kar niks meer werd nie :oldtimer:

Update

So ek het met Mike gepraat by Rocket 88 en dit is wat besluit is.
Gaan n 383 stroker v8 petrol insit.
Behoort die makliker ombouing te wees en ek behoort al die krag te kry wat ek soek
en ook beter brandstof verbruik.

So die 4.8 moet gaan gehoop vir tussen 40 en 50 k.

Is it just more power or better consumption, or both that you are looking for?
Another option would be to turbo charge the engine.

I still think you should be able to get a reasonable price for the car as it is now.
Then buy a Patrol with a sick engine, to replace.

But why? If there is nothing wrong with the 4.8 I think you are making a big mistake :think:

Diddo on what Dawid said....
Just follow the history on the forum and look for yourself....
What ever the price is double it to finish the build ....
Have a look at getting gearbox to work with engine...getting instruments to work on dash ect....
Imho if you want to have the big power put a super charger at rob green .
There is a LS3 patrol avalible for 170k with all the bells and whistles on .buy that one give it to frans to do the last bits and het it sorted if its not done.
Tommie went the correct way by using a manual 4.5 as a start
Have a chat to the guys that did this before ......
You can get more than 180000 for your car as is . Then you are where you want to be..... :mytwocents:

Hi Guys,just my opinion
don't think conversions is simple,there is ALWAYS a clich...!!!!
I,ve been working on a 1980 Nissan Safari for the last 4 years,big ideas ,lexus v8 auto box etc etc
build the motor mounts and installed the v8,that was easy.....!!!
Then
sump hitting axle,lift suspension,ah propshaft to short,propshaft now hitting cross members,revcounter overreading and the list goes on and on.
End result,i have gone back to a recon L28 motor and standard gearbox and should have that vehicle running before end of this year Perfectly : http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/posting.php? ... =44&t=4943#

I agree.
If you want a vehicle that is unreliable and eats all your spare cash , do the modification. Then expect to exhaust your curse word stockpile.

It has been said before on this forum: If you have to modify , modify it back to the original.
