Long Range Fuel Tank
Ungili's fuel tank started to leak at two places whilst in the Kgalagadi - terrible corrigations in the roads!
In the end I could not have more that 70l in the tank. Had it welded yesterday and will put it back tonight.
** tried to load pictures - but no-go***. "Upload Attachment" does not want to work!
OK, the upload work from my laptop!

Re: Long Range Fuel Tank

Re: Long Range Fuel Tank

Re: Long Range Fuel Tank
Hi Herbie
This is a common problem with the Exel 140l fuel tank on the Patrol.I think it's because of the weight of the fuel that causes the welds to fatigue.Remember that stainless steel is prone to cracking under stress. The good thing is that it is an easy fix.
I dont know why Exel uses 3CR12 to manufacture there fuel tanks whereas Long Ranger in Aus use good old mild steel

Re: Long Range Fuel Tank

Re: Long Range Fuel Tank
Hi Kobus,
Phillip
