Only thing is the sulphur issues. Ie: 15ppm. they would have to modify or choose different injectors, like they have had to do with the 4.5V8 D4D, although apparently they too have had to now postpone all launches due to fuel system failures in SA models....

I admit to not reading all of it, but I got the impresion these engines are aimed at the Y62, not the "real" patrols?

If/When these powerhouses reach us, they might be de-tuned to suit african diesel. I've heard the new Rangers are de-tuned for this reason and that in Europe, they are much stronger . I have no literature to back me up, it's just what I've heard.

@ Peter = The new Y62 Pickup in UAE looks/is exactly like mine, yet is labelled the Y62, except they have been able to order it in a TB45 and TB48. Now, what the links above suggest, is that it will become available in the cummins version too in Africa. I also wonder how this is connected to the Y61GU as i was under the impression we were not to get the Y62 wagon....

@ Riaan = Totally agree, just like the cruiser V8 D4d as discussed! haha. Injectors bla bla bla. Ps: That ranger motor is a great motor it seems, regardless.

I like the Cummins idea, however would prefer the 5.9 or 6.7 straight 6, I believe it to be simpler and more robust and Patrol like. I am currently looking into a 5.9 24V for my patrol. Nissan & Dodge have been looking at an agreement to replace the Titan's with Ram underpinings including diesels. For towing the Dodges straight 6 are rated better than the Duramax & Powerstokes V8. But Cummins Patrols is something to look forward to . I even came accross a Land cruiser with a 2.8 (4) Cummins I suspect its the same as the Foton motor.

If they can be used in tug boats, then the engines must be good for Patrols as well!!
