Hi Genys,

I also have a long range SS tank. Went to three provinces 2 weeks ago and alas it sprung a leak. To cut the story short, tank was removed sent to the supplier. No quaams or questions. They repaired it ,strengthed the area where it was leaking and had it ready on the same day. As far as I am concered great service.

uuuhhhhh I have a serious problem with the concept -- I took the original Nissan product 65 litre PLASTIC tank to Wild Africa to install on Boezman - Willi then decided that the ss item was better - and sponsored me with the 60 litre ss tank.
I am grateful to Willie on this - no mistake - very grateful - MY worry is - if the SS tank springs a leak on me - it wont be "around the corner from the dealer to fix it same day" - it will be wayyyyyyy out in the bundu - where my life [and those with me] may very well depend on that fuel ... now in the sand due to a leak ... so, this is one occasion where "good service" is NOT a comforting thought. The repair should not have been needed in the first place (like, next year D V, we plan an Outreach to Angola .... and not the cities & towns .. the "outback" of Angola... ] Why do I worry ...

 somehow I missed this thread while running around trying to sort out my leak end of last year. I have the 140l exel stainless steel tank as well. Leaked in exactly the same spot as Herries. Ended up using pratley's while in Zim, didnt stop the leak, more of a sweat than a leak though. Will take it to Northern when I get the chance.

And then it happened to me as well!!!.

I can see dampness under the tank which seems to sypher through the metal. There are markings as if there were welds on the inside of the tank (probably compartments) and it seems that the metal must be more porous at these welds, allowing petrol to syper through.

Will contact Safari 4x4x!!!
