Diesel Pump

Post by Adrianjvr »

Hi Guys,

I have a smell diesel leak on my diesel pump. It seems to be coming from the back of the pump. Is this a diy job or should I look at sending it in for a repair. Anyone you can recommend in the northerns suburbs? Cheers Adrian

Hello, Check on back if one off the pipes is not leaking. Or in the middle between the injector pipes there sit a plug , 12mm socket. Check if that is tight.
I would guess a pipe.

Hi Frans, the leak is coming from around the plug between the injectors. The M12 bolt is tight. Is there a seal of sorts that I can replace?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. If you pull the bolt out there should be a copper washer.
You can crack the bolt loose and tight again to see if it would seal. But pull the bolt and fit a new washer, that is only a plug on the back of the pump.

Thanks Frans, turns out it was one of the seals on the body of the pump that was leaking. I got Randburg Diesel and Turbo in Strydom Park (Bosch Agent) to service the pump for me over the christmas break. They really offer a good service. Unbelievably the vehicle sounds totally different after they have worked on the vehicle. The engine now has a deep addictive growl that was never there before.
