R5K what will you spend it on
Evening all
If you have R 5000 which accessory would you spend it on
1) Snorkel
2) Rock sliders
3) Drawer system
4) GPS & HID lights conversion
5) Custom seatcovers
6) 2nd Battery system ( fixed/removeable )
7)
These are the possibles I am considering, they are not really in order of preferance.
Comments and reasons will be appreciated
Shalom

Re: R5K what will you spend it on
OK I will bite...
The HID lights are tempting but my OE's are actually not that bad...
For me it will be between the snorkel and second battery... OK make it the snorkel as I will get the most benefit from it for most of the time
Really depends on your needs as my single battery catered for my power consumption without problem but then again it is nice to have some backup that one time you over do it......

Re: R5K what will you spend it on
David remember that Jules, like me drives an old Y60, and the headlights on these things are terrible.
I reckon you would get the most use out of the GPS & Lights, but if you want a real GPS you probably need to spend nearly the whole R5k just on that?
I don't think you ride hard enough to need rocksliders, and you can build a pretty good drawer system for half that (as I am attempting to prove to myself).
The snorkel is also a good investment methinks, but I would do the dual battery before the snorkel?

Re: R5K what will you spend it on
All the proposals are good, but personally, for me the weakest portion of the PAtrol (that needs updating) is the rear bumper.
Sooo many patrols have damaged their rear bumpers and it is VERY expensive to repair.
I would add to that list (somewhere near the top) a rear bumper, and while you're at it, a second sparewheel carrier (or jerry can holder) and a fitting for the high lift jack. Lastly, while you are replacing the rear bumper a PROPER towbar.
The rest of the Patrol is a beast. This one little weak spot will be a priority to get to the same standard.

Hi Jules,
For me it will be between the Packing system and the second battery.. These things makes your life much easier.

Re: R5K what will you spend it on
Wilhelm, once again, Jules drives a Y60. The rear bumper on that is much stronger and less susceptable to damage than that of the Y61.
Having said that though, there is no doubt that a swing arm could come in handy at times.

Re: R5K what will you spend it on
Noodsaaklik teenoor 'nice to have' - dan moet die GPS daar wees. Snorkel as jy net vermoed jy gaan deur diep waters moet gaan [met jou Patrol - nie inni lewe nie] - en 'n sterk agter bumper om vriende [soos JG] te herwin. ... nee wat, dan liewer die voor buffer.
