Brakes Binding
On the way back from Hennops yesterday there appeared to be something retarding my vehicle and I could only manage around 60km/hr in third gear. There is nothing wrong with the motor power, feels more like the brakes where being applied. Any suggestions on what it may be?

Re: Brakes Binding
Hello Adrian
Is the problem still there, or did it disappear after the car has had a chance to rest?
If it is still happening, drive it a bit and then feel if any of the hubs are getting hotter than the others. Also check the handbrake drum (I think this is possibly the prime suspect).
Regards
Peter

Re: Brakes Binding
Hi Peter,
Thanks for the reply.
The problem seems to occur when the brakes heat up after driving for a while, it feels like the hydraulic pressure in the system will not release when the brake fluid is hot. I don't think it is related to the hand brake drum on the transfer box.

Re: Brakes Binding
clean out the mud & gunk around the cylinders & release springs (2) check the seals / rubbers of the MASTER cylindre, and while you're at it, the slave cyl as well. [also clear the collected packed up compacted gung & goo & mud inside te rim around the brake disks & pads}

Re: Brakes Binding
I traced the brake problem to a faulty master cylinder today. Anybody know where I can purchase a rebuild kit in Johannesburg?

Hello Adrian
I have not specifically bought a kit for the Patrol, but Norbrake has always been able to help me in the past.
Cheers
