Gu Interior Window Weather Strips - Advice Needed

Post by marius@vdbergh.me »

Good afternoon good Patrol people

I pulled the trigger a few months ago and bought a 2004 4.8 GRX. It started with a good clean and progressed to an entire interion strip out, all glass removed and prepping for a complete interior / exterior respray.

There must be something wrong with me for a few plumbing and electrical fixes ended up with me completely gutting and redoing my house a few years back😊

Anyhoo, I am cleaning, painting, and fixing every rusted screw, replacing all broken clips, worn rubbers and soundproofing the whole car. I even striped the seats down to the frame rust proof it and deodorized the foam. (The mechanical stuff is still to come)

I managed to get 90% of what I need from Partsoug and still need to order a few things, but I have searched the internet from top to bottom (even consulted ChatGPT) and cannot find a plan for the interior weather strips.

My weather strips have almost no “fluff” left on it (and yes, I am redoing the window tinting also) and the rear strips are badly rusted. I started rebuilding it using evapo-rust, plastic fillers, glues, epoxies, and a very bad attitude at some point, but I came to the conclusion that I am wasting my time for the new tint will just be scratched again.

These weather strips do not seem to have individual part numbers and only comes with the entire interior panel as a unit. I am not prepared to wonder down that cost trail, especially if everything but the weather strips are still in good condition.

Can the patrol gurus on the forum please shower me with your wisdom!
There might be a few beers in it for those that come and help me sand this beast down, LOL!

The attached pics are for the rear door strips, the front strips are not rusted but I want to replace them also.

Much Appreciated
Marius

Thanks, I don't see anything obvious online, I'll take a few measurements and give them a call.

It is the inner and outer seal in one.

Pretoria also has a branch - 328 Rebecca Street Pta West - 012 327-2757
They have a wholesaler outlet as well....it is in Centurion.

Much Appreciated! I'll definitely look at this one
I had a chat to them on Whatsapp and they suggested this one, [url=https://parmegastore.com/products/inner ... 2516791389]INNER STEEL REINFORCED SCRAPER (k)[

For those who are interested, I attached a rough drawing for the OEM profile also

David does not have new OEM units, but he is looking if he can find some that is still in good condition.

The long and shot is, I have options, thanks for the advice!
