Advice needed - oil leak and fanbelts

Post by Johan B »

I got my 4.2d GL 99 over the weekend, I need to sort out two oil leaks on the front and rear diffs (only sweating oil), and replace the 3 fan belts and the plastic part of the fan itself as it has small tears in the fins.

Where and how is the best to go about this?

Hi,

I actually need a new fan blade. Any suggestions where I can get one? I'm in Cape Town.

After Nissan Stealers charged me R1600 deposit and supplied me a wrong one twice, I shoved it up their shelves and started looking for one second hand.

Some searching later I got a good second hand fan for my 2000 4.2D from from these ouks:

Nissan Spares
Mitch Pasqualli
Tel: 021 982 2680
Fax: 021 982 2681 or 086 672 1992
Cel: 083 273 8416
Pasqualli Spares & Repairs
c/o Lood & Wesselgeldenhuys Str Brackenfell Ind

P.S.
I suggest you remove the fan, photograph it and give them the exact dimensions.
Better replace that cracked fan - if it flies apart you will have major damage...

I had to replace my 4.8's fan blade. After a world-wide search for a blade that does the right job, I imported a genuine Nissan blade from a Nissan dealer in Aus. Be careful for any aftermarket fan. The cooling fan is a very delicate and precise piece of equipment. The saving between the original thing and a aftermarket fan is not worth engine damage due to overheating.

Thanks! I'll give them a try.

Is this the place?

I gave them a call and I'm looking at R750 for a second hand fan-blade....

Yes - that is it. - Between Brackenfell and Kraaifontein just off the Old Paarl road.

They normally have 2nd hand engine spares for the older vehicles but not much for the newer Patrols. I got a few bits there for my old Safari.
