Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hello all

I am in desperate need for a solution for my starter motor.

IT is a '98 Patrol 4500 GRX. Apparently the starter cannot be repaired and apparently there are only agent Replacements.

Issue: Am told the armature is done and needs to be replaced, can this be repaired or is a replacement my only option?

They have also informed me that the only replacement is direct from agent and honestly have been unable to locate a generic version. Can this part be replaced with any other model that is still compatible or if a second hand one can be used.

Please any suggestions on a fix or where i can locate a refurbed/pre owned working version?

I bought an Alternator from these guys (Breno Parts - http://www.brenoparts-autoelectrical.co.za/contact-us/ ) a few years back, but they are in Jhb. Maybe they can courier it to you, or I'm pretty sure there are a few guys around that could help closer to your hometown. Nissan Agents will be crazy expensive.

You could try Terrain Tamer ( https://www.terraintamer.com/en/4wd-products ). Marinus here on the Forum is a Terrain Tamer Agent in Bloem if I'm not mistaken, and will for sure be able to assist you. Great quality stuff and I'm sure will be way cheaper than the Nissan Agents.

I've had my starter serviced by an auto electrician twice already, so I'm sure it can be done, maybe your guy is trying to start building up his christmas bonus early.

Try DIesel-Electric. I got a starter from them albeit for a 4.8, not 4.5. But still worth a call
