Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi, I have fitted 35” tyres on my y62 with the 2inch lift kit. I am getting some scrubbing on the upper control arm at full turn. I have emailed the lift kit supplier and it is recommended to have an +18-25mm rim offset to fix this. I am having 20mm spacers made up at a local engineering shop. However I am battling to find longer wheel studs. Anyone know a supplier? Looking for M14x 1.5mm thread x 65mm long?

To fully specify a stud you also need the diameter of the splined section.

Try JKM Industrial Supplies or Reliable Bolt.

Often with wheel spacers you just move the scraping from one area to another area. In your instance probably the back of your wheel well during articulation. If it only scrapes at full turn maybe consider just adjusting the steering travel bump stop to stop it just before it scrapes. Slight reduction in turning circle but so much less hassle than opening the modding can of worms

please clarify why you'll need longer studs ?
Are you making up a wheel spacer that essentially has 6 holes in it, and the wheel is still held on by origninal/longer studs ?... if this is the case , i would not recommend this solution.

a few solutions are at your disposal really:

- Steering radius limiting screw (as spike said)
- Proper wheel spacer (those which have their own studs)
- correct offset wheels
- Replacement upper control arms - best solution, as this also corrects ball joint angles

Hi Russ why would you not recommend a spacer with longer studs? Unless this is dangerous?
I have looked for rims with +20mm offset with no luck. Replacement upper control arms still need the 20 mm offset. I can try to find proper wheel spacer with their own studs.

Wheel spacers with their own studs cannot be made that thinon vehicles which have studs on the hubs. Minimum for them is around 30-35mm. On VW's it is possible as they use wheel bolts instead of studs.

I am not familiar with the Y62's setup, but spacers and longer studs will not result in any significant reduction in strength if the spacer is made such that it locates correctly on the spigot on the face of the hub, and has an identical spigot on which the wheel can locate.

This could of course be tricky as these two diameters are the same, so whether or not it is possible depends on the vehicle. On the Y60 and Y61, it is easy at the rear but effectively impossible at the front. As said, I don't know the Y62's setup.

Thanks for all advice and support. Spacers done with spigot. 20mm bolted onto existing studs with new studs for wheel attachment. Full turning circle achieved. Next to just anodise spacers for good looks and anti rust. I am quite chuffed.

Much better using these custom spacers with their own studs.

Just make sure the original studs and bolts are not protruding past the wheel spacer mating surface (it looks like they are in the pic - might be an optical illusion). As you need the wheel mating surface to site hard up against the spacer surface with no interference whatsoever, which im sure you already know . (obviously)
