Brake replacement - labour cost

Good morning!

I just had my brakes replaced, all four discs and all pads.
I brought the parts, had just to pay the labour. That was ZAR2000.

Now I wonder: is that reasonable, or a bit on the high side? How long does it take?

Seems very high. I got a quote for R2k labour to replace main bearing seal, which involves removing the gearbox.

NO Fanus you just ripped a oak off
its a very intense and specialized job to replace that agents only rear main oilseal
the correct way is to remove sump aswell and then fit new seal then refit sump :oldtimer: :oldtimer:

I forgot to mention that I was brought home by the garage, so you could add half an hour of working time.

How long does it take to replace all four discs plus the pads?

I got a quote recently to have my td42 bakkie serviced. Full service which included diff oils, brake pads, radiator flush etc. The total for the labour was R1800.
The labour amount was increased to R2850 when I asked to also include the main bearing seal replacement..

To change brake fluid and all disks and pads if you have a lift sould be about 2 hours work in my opinion. ...mabe they are making up on the mark up for spares that they lost out on.... :mytwocents:
