Michael and I was talking and wondering about the weight of our Patrols. Today I went to the local scrap metal place and asked them if I could way my car just for personal interest. Sure 50bucks. So I pulled up.

This is my daily weight and consits of an Ironman bullbar. 9000lb cummup winch. 33inch KM2 muds + same spare wheel. Single deck frontrunner drawer system. Empty crates. Recovery kit. Wheel pump. 2 full tanks of diesel. full OME suspesion And a snorkel. This is what I added to the car.
No roof racks or other stuff. O yes. Without me as well. I way 96kg. So you can add the 96kg's to that.
I think mine says 2960Kg in the licence disc ( as standard ). If yours is 2800Kg as a 3.0 diesel, I know that the 4.2 diesel motor is probably a 1/3 more in weight compared to yours ( not to mention the extras fitted)!!!
Whats the legal limit to the normal drivers licence ( EB )??
Well Cedric, a normal drivers license is a code "B" which means you cannot drice a vehicle with GVM > 3500kg and you cannot tow anything with GVM > 750kg
If you have a code EB I dont think there is a limit on the GVM of the car you can drive or the trailer that you can tow
I had a code 08 ( I think ) before they changed to the new coding system. Then when the new licence cards came out mine showed EB and not B, so is that like the old code 10 licence ??
Yo-Yo now you guys are opening a can of worms...
My 1999 4.5 GRX weighs 2308kg ,or that is what the licence dics says and my GVM is 2920kg. This means I can only carry a payload of 612kg..
I think the GCM gross combination mass is 2.2 X the tare weght (2308kg) which is 5077 kg..
Its only when your vehicle GVM exceed 3500kg do you need to have a class C1 or higher licence
Jaaa boys, its scary. EB means you can tow a caravan with brake. Or heavy trailer with brake. B can only tow a smal trailer no more than 750kg. If your car weighs more then 3500kg you must have a code 10
Well fellow Patroller to being over weight and loving it
