Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hey guys just after some help.
Been doing up a Gu 2002 coil spring Nissan patrol ute dx 4.2. It went to get a blue slip and they can not find the vin number on the chassis.
Does any one know the location of it?

On my 4.8 it was in line with the B pillar on the drivers side.

Thanks Oom Mac. I too have failed to find the Vin number on my 2001 3.0 D. so am looking forward to the replies here. The manual shows a picture of it on the Chassis under the drivers door, but I cannot see anything there. Someone suggested it was under the carpet on the drivers seat, but I found nothing there either. I have been granted permission to register the Troll here in SA and will need to know where the Vin number is located. As it was, and thanks to this forum, I found the engine number on the Cylinder head.

I just checked my patrol and the VIN number is on the chassis as per pic ST10148

I'm a little bit late with my answer.
I had the same problem in my german car.

There is one more possible place:
it may be milled into the frame


It should be to see, if you look into the right wheel housing.
It is very hard to see, and if you painted there something, grinded or sandblasted, you will never find it.

On both the 4.2 diesel pickups (2005) I have the vin is below the right door on the chassis.

The numbers are not easy to find as they are barely visible even if you know where to look.

About six inches behind the gearbox cross member , there is a slot about 2 inches long in the vertical outside of the chassis.
The number is just below that slot.

The number on my GQ is at the spot shown in the picture with red arrow.
I have also seen numbers at the top of the chassis near the radiator left side.

The police at Waltloo test station clearance in Pretoria are also very good at finding them.

Maybe someone can help me, where can I find the engine nr. on a Nissan hard body 3.3l petrol?

Dawid -- on the 3.0 DIESEL it is is stamped on te head [that "lip" that the tapet cover fits on [If you buy a new head it comes BLANK, you must stamp the number again ???? WHAT were they thinking ????
