Ironman Winch switch of Death by Frustration

I got a new Ironman 12000pd winch, What a machine. It is strong and reliable....But only if the donnerse little switch they install under the bonnet works :chainsaw: :steamingears: .

I was at the Olifants Challenge over the weekend and had to use the winch to recover other stuck 4x4's, but that F#$)#@#NG switch didn't work. Apparently, it is part of the installation requirement and is installed as a safety device. This winch comes with a remote control. . Why in the world? You should in your vehicle when winching, should something go wrong. This remote can be activated by mistake in the cubbyhole or center console. So when you want to winch, you have to open the bonnet, , put in the "key" - plastic - turn it to the "on" position, and winch away. NO. because the damned donnerse ding werk nie!!! :helpsos: . So I stripped it out and connected the wires direct to the battery, took the remote apart, moered away the battery, and now only work the remote with the cable supplied with the winch. And works like a charm. Once I did this I help recover all the guys getting stuck in the deep water, where the Patrol got through, no problem!!

Just bought the same winch but addressed your comments prior to instillation.
