4.5 GRX 1999

Post by Mammoth »

Hi guys. Never thought it would come to this but I am considering selling my Patrol. I just cannot believe that their value has depreciated so much. I see some adds of 4.5 Patrols going for R80k. The extras on my troll is worth more than that!!!!!

Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose... I will advertise mine for R130k and if nothing happens then it wasn't meant to be. Will just by a 3rd vehicle.

Would like to hear your thoughts on this? Oh yes, 349000km.

Keep it and use it only for what it was built to do. There is ni way that I would part with my Troll. I rather save for some more time in order to buy a run-about. :mytwocents:

Yip, you are right but then again I have a good excuse to just keep it! Now just to spend some money on a carport!!!! You cannot even buy a proper golf for 80k!!!
Doesn't make sense....

To buy the Patrols so cheaply these days you save a lot of money that you can use for extra petrol. :oldtimer:

It all comes down to what do you use your car for.....if it is paid for .....keep it drive it when you want to....yes feul is about 6km per liter but it is a solid tank that will last you many many more overlanding trips and a good few trails ....take the money that you would spend on a newer model and go on 2 to three trips a year you would soon see the light..... :mytwocents:

Johan,

80 K for your Patrol is a little low. My 95 value has been confirmed by Nissan dealer @ R 85K. The reason I have got a good value is that my Troll is a Y60 diesel and does not have a value in the blue book. With the demise of the 4.2 diesel engine, I think these old models will gain a little due to availability.

Simple idea is to highlight in your advert what your Troll has and also point out the value of extras and all the maintenance items you have replaced. Fuel consumption seems to be the biggest reason the Trolls are dropping in value.

If I had to sell my Troll it would not go for less than R 125 K to R 135 K, and two dealers indicated that for the diesel engine I could possibly achieve that.

In summary ,my troll is not the daily driver. I keep all maintenance up to date and will only sell it if I get the correct price. If that does not happen, I would not have lost anything as the vehicle still gives me endless km of pleasure and fun.
