Windscreen replacement - your advice plse

Have to replace my front window / windscreen as a few stones ensured cracks throughout.

In previous posts was it mentioned that the people doing the replacement needs to be watched that they do not brake any clips, not sure where these are and should one not rather buy new set from dealers to be installed at same time with new glass?

In addition where would you recommend in Pretoria do I take the Patrol for this, anyone out there which I can trust to work on the Patrol?

As always, your views and feedback is much appreciated
Herman

I think Mr Skinner suggested some of the independent installers, not PG etc. Their prices at R1250 is also more reasonable.

They main clips to look out for are those used to attach the vent panel (between the bonnet and windscreen) They will most likely break them and if they are not put back properly and sealed you will have a leak in the passenger footwell. I'm actually thinking of removing the panel myself to prevent frustration.

Second issue could be the window surround, would be interesting if most places replace it or not. Don't have answers on it. I think Ricster mentioned his is loose

yip... my rubber surround that clips into the rubber around the glass itself is not fitting properly due to some of that black snotty stuff to glues the glass to the body getting into the grove that holds the outer rubber surround. Most places like National Auto Glass etc can do it without any issue but I seem to battle to get the windscreen with the blue sun tint on the top. Mine now also has a crack after Saturday AAWDC fun day. I hear the stone hit the windscreen just as I got onto the main road, and by the time I got home ( only noticed the run the next morning) it had a horizontal run dipping down to the side.

So I will have to get a new windscreen !!

Main thing though is to ensure SABS approved, I assume insurance companies will have something to say if not

My safari pick up wat ek opbou kort n voorruit. Waar en by wie in weskaap kan ek laat insit? Hier by ons op dorp is n PG glass. Dit lyk na n heel eenvoudige jobbie op die safaries.

Hi Reenen

Weet net by PG en Autoglass betaal mens 'n fortuin.
