I have never seen a new-shape GRX diesel, so that sounds likely.

If I may ask, why the need for auto?

Alternatively I guess you need either to look for an older one that has grenaded and/or been sorted properly (I know of three but doubt any of them are for sale right now), or build one?
Mag ons ons kenniskry met lekkerkry aanhoukry.

Just to confuse matters a little

Mine 2004 was the last of the GRX 3 litre diesels.
It was GRX because it had the electric seat adj, climate control, leather seats etc, but manual transmission.

Oom Mac's Agarob was an auto 3liter diesel. They were rare, but not sure if it was GRX. I think it was.
That was a little older than mine though.
Definitely not new shape (2005+)

Ian .......think a bit when we went to at se gat for the challenge I drove the with michell in his 4.2 cruising ever so lekke at 130km I drove back with andre driving even better ...both of them was 4.2 turbo oil burners ......he got 8.4 km per liter there and back .....
That includes the trail driving for the day ....
What about you get a 4.5 auto and drop a 4 2 motor with hair drier in there ?????
Lets see what diff rasios ect work out to or mabe a 30l with broken engine ? What do you think???

But on a serious note, coming from someone who was a firm believer that the 3.0 was k@k...... I have a HUGE amount of respect for the 3.0 after seeing what that motor can do and the fuel consumption it gets. Yes it must be post 2004 or as Ian stated 2005-6. I believe the mapping was sorted by then. Still do the relevant mods to the 3.0 motor ( EGT gauge, Dawes valve or whatever it's called and a bigger intercooler and catch can ) and that machine will get you around town with fuel consumption better than you would believe.

I would also not hesitate to buy a pre 2004 - 3.0 diesel that is running, but would open the motor and replace pistons and rings, bearings and head gasket, and then do the above modification to ensure 500 000 Km of good driving.
Regards
Cedric

Why should we watch gauges when driving? This is not an earoplane. Its a car.
The only guage I have to watch is the fuel gauge! :rolling:

Okay, I will now just sit in my respective corner, and smile!
