Hi Guys,..
Just about to do a full oil change on my Patrol... just wanted to get a general consensus on what oils you guys were using.
1: Gearbox
2: Transfer Case
Also, if you know what quantities.
Thanks men.
Russ.

Re: Oils... (G/Box, T/Case) ?
This is what I got from the Ozzie forum a few years back:
Oil - Penrite HPR 15w-50
Front Diff (5.4L)- 90w hypoid
Rear Diff (2.1-3L)- Penrite Limslip Hypoid 85w140
Gear Box (3.9L)- 75w85 Gear Oil
Transfer Case (2.2L)- 80w90 Gear Oil
Power Steering (1L)- Dexron II
I think it applies to most models.
As the attached pdf from my '98 manual suggests, there is not distinction between the models on this.
However, the manual also makes not distinction from what I can see between front and rear diffs?

Re: Oils... (G/Box, T/Case) ?
Hi alex,... ja, similar finds thru my search too....
However, i am unaware that we can get PENRITE oils here ?
Also,... the manual states ATF fluid for the Transfer case, not the same as the gearbox oil,...
Mine is running a Limited slip in the big H260 rear diff (5L of oil required!)... so i need to see where i can Castrol LSX or similar (possibly PENRITE LSD) oil? i used to get it as Suburban spares but cant seem to find it anywhere now.

As far as I know, Castrol LSX is only available in 20l, and may only be available from Castrol directly. speak to your local Castrol garage manager...
Determine whether the transfer case has ATF or normal gearbox oil (by smell), and replace with same.
