CAM CHAIN SERVICE/CHECK 4.8GRX

Hi Almal,

Ive been looking around, been going through the manual. Service manual, no where it mentioned the CAM CHAIN to be checked? :think:

Am I missing something somewhere?

Those timing chains last very long and normally lasts the lifetime of the engine. Forget about it till it gets noisy

They tend to rattle due to stretch and worn guides and your timing will become retarded

How long is a piece of string? I don't know - it depends on how hard the motor worked. Some do 500k+ km but one of my work colleagues had to replace a timing chain on his C 180 Mercedes @ 35k :thumbdown:

Point taken, I just heard that the CAM CHAIN is a non serviceable item and that it is apparently good for 800 000 km. And that just sounded like really high and I know out Patrols are like tanks, but that just sounded heavy.
