Bass lake Sunday

I went to Bass lake on Sunday to ride my 4.8 offroad for the first time. I could not get that silly locker to engage the light just flashes.
I have a 2009 model and it seems that the patrol had never been offroad before.

If the diff lock light keeps on flashing it does not necessarily mean that the locker is not activated.
It may just mean that the indicator switch is not working rather than the actuator switch.
The failure of the indicator switch is a common issue with Patrols.
Too make sure, having switched the diff lock on, take a sharp turn to the right, and keep an eye on the right rear wheel. Does it "bite" into the ground?
Then you know it is working (flashing diff lock light or not). Preferrably do this on grass or on dirt.
There are a number of older threads from 2012 on this forum that can give you more detail on where the potential problem otherwise may lie. E.g. the solenoid in the engine bay that activates the vacuum mechanism etc.
Also, I assume you were in 4x4 mode when you switched the diff lock on?
The GQs allowed one to activate the diff locker without being in 4x4, but for the GUs you have to be in 4x4.
You can take out the indicator switch, where it is screwed into the rear diff and clean it. That usually helps it to work again.
Some of the threads I mention above include schematics of how / where to do this.

I was in 4 low and diff lock switch on. I then road over some axle twisters and got the one rear wheel in the air. The wheel in the air just spun so the diff lock was not engaging.
I think it could be a blocked pipe or relay problem. I will try changing the pipes around on Saturday and check power to the relay.
I have the TJM 100mm lift with good travel and muddies so diff lock was never required.

I had my metal pipe blocked infront of the diff under the left rear passenger door - about 20cm from the rubber pipe.
