"Stiff" window

Post by Tony »

Anyone had one of the electric windows battling to close?? My rear window on the RHS (behind the driver) opens fine, but really battles to close and slows right down. Is there any lubricant that one can apply to the sides - or something simple before having to open up everything?

I was thinking of maybe spraying some Q10 (silicone lubricant) down the sides to see if it makes any difference. How would one find out if the motor is on its way out? Suggestions please!!

Cheers.

TONY - probeer "WINFLON" or any of the teflon based "spook-pippi" spuite - OR 3-in-1 [naaimasjien olie
BUT it sounds like the mechanism inside is stuck [grease that got too much dust in and dried out .. that will go sticky ??]

Tony,
The internal mechanism has a clock type spring which assist closure of the window compensating for the load.
My guess is the spring would be another possibility if lubrication does not help.
Good luck.

Unless the window rails are bent or otherwise damaged, they are very unlikely to be the cause of the problem.

Unfortunately I suspect you're going to have to open it up and lubricate the mechanism.

I would NOT put any liquid type oil or silicone lubricating spray on those rails.... dust will collect in there and make a nice grinding paste, causing even more problems. One can use a graphite powder but also not too much. I agree with Peter and Riaan ( Bruin beer), Check the mechanism.

Thanks guys - I already have sprayed some Q8 (the silicone) spray, and it has'nt made any difference so it looks like it's time to open up!
