I was watching some footage of PeterC's car on an axle twister and noticed at the Patrol day they didn't all behave the same. Although the wheel drops on some, the opposite wheel wouldn't go into the wheel arch as much even though it needed to. Peter's was perfect.
Seen loads of Youtube too and many patrols although high, the wheels don't flex / go into the arch is it too heavy of a coil?
What is the key?

Roy, not sure which cars you compared with, but some of the contributing factors can be:
1) The GQ has a lower arch than the GU, thus the wheels appear to go in deeper on a GQ.
2) I have bigger wheels than most guys.
3) The droop on the other side efectively pushes the high side even higher.
4) A body lift will lift the arch away, reducing the appearance of wheel lift.
But yes, harder springs will also effect it. Unfortunately I don't know what springs are in mine...

Actually Peter I follow an OZ Video Magazine and they were comparing new vs old, cruisers 100 vs 200, d1 vs d3, gq vs gu through the same obstacles water, mud, rocks etc.
Through many the GQ = GU but overall they reckon GQ > GU. I must check the details, I do remember them specifically stating better composure.

But the GQ and GU are extremely similar in terms of suspension setup. In terms of upward travel, they use exactly the same bump-stop rubbers, and the aftermarket suspension suppliers (particularly OME who publish this information) use the same springs and shocks for both. The only difference I can think of that may have this affect is the anti-roll bars.
They have the most interesting topics and very unlike our SA mags. Just passionate outdoor stuff. Loads of patrol tho
