On a recent wander around Limpopo , after a fairly bad piece of road near Modimole (Nystroom) my 4.2 petrol cut out. Checking revealed no spark at plugs, or out of coil. Local garage assisted, but didn't explain what they had done other than spray Q20 all over the place (I can't fault hospitality in that area) and vehicle ran again for a few hundred Kms but did the same trick in Middleburg (MP).
There I replaced the coil and all was well for a return to Durban.
Last week I attempted to drive from home to Umhlanga (safari centre4x4 for a supension upgrade) a distance of around 30km. The vehicle started jerking really badly and eventually cut out altogether, managed to get it restarted after about 30 mins. This time the coil was HOT and I found that if I waited long enough (15-20mins) I could again restart, but running rough. (the roughness goes away if I bridge from the battery+ to the coil +)
I left the vehicle at SC but will have to collect it this week.
I have a new coil but before I it cook that is there anything else I should look for ?
