So I get the new MT 285/75/16 takkies fitted and then find out it wont fit onto the rear carrier....... So who has modified the carrrier bracket? How much extra does it need to stand out so the tyre doesn't touch the body? - Is 10mm enought? How did you do it and cost? I'm thinking of aluminum plate 20cm x 30cm :helpsign:

I just took a couple of washers and taped them together into little stacks (sort of like those change rolls that you get at casinos  ) and then used these to space the door away fromt he body. I planned to make a proper spacer plate, but never got around to it...

Hmmm, was thinking of the spacers but was worried about point loading, the 20x30cm alum plates are 3mm thick and R42 each so reckon I would need 12 - 15mm?

Can someone PM me G-Mans real name and contact #?

Fitted the tyrethingymajig pressure monitors at the same time... Awesome :woo:

Check the Ozzie forum, there are a number of posts on it. Some guys space it with a 40 x 40 mm square tubing, this way teh can move it further away from the door and up

I had a special spacer plate made for my previous Patrol which had 285`s fitted. My new patrol has 275`s fitted and I do not intend changing to bigger tyres.
You can have this plate and all you need to do is collect from my home in Sandton.

Hi Daniel

If Tunja is not interested, I will take it.
But also, otherwise, could you not perhaps post a picture. We can have the plate copied by one of the steelworkers on this forum?

Hi Gents,

We GQ guys do not have that problem. :rolling: :rolling: I do however suggest while you are doing this mod is to change the bots that secure the wheel to spare Wheel studs. I changed all my studs on the Troll to 1.5 RH, as they are far cheaper and availabel all over the country. Now I also have an additional 3 spare studs and wheel nuts.

I just used 2 pieces of 20mm aluminium square tubing plugging the ends with plastic chair plugs. Most expensive part was the four longer high tensile bolts. Easy peasy
