Next week tuesday my lorrie is going for the 250K service, just picked up the oil and grease seals from Nissan, a whopping R950. Magnatec oil is ready ( I presume a oil filter from a spares shop should be fine? or must one get the Nissan filter?)
I will also change diff oils, want them to bleed clutch and brakes to replace those oils as well. Had gearbox oil replaced at 195K that should still be fine I presume.
How often do you petrol heads change the sparkplugs? and have any of the GQ guys replaced the VALVE STEMS ??
Shalom
Jules

Spark plugs can be replace every 30k (more expensive ones every 60k). Sometimes replace at 15k, depending on use of the Patrol.

Jules, I change plugs every service (10k km).
I use GUD or FRAM filters from the spares shops and have never had an issue. Air, oil and petrol.
I presume you mean valve stem seals, not the actual valve stems? Mine are still OK at 270k km. Is your car using oil or smoking when you take your foot off the throttle and coast?
To replace them properly is really a head-off job (doing it with the head on you could in rare cases end up with bent valves) and other than preventing some smoke and some loss of oil, running with worn seals have no other detrimental effects.

Jules, I agree with Peter, rather change the spark plugs every 10k km.
Have you recently replaced the coolant/anti-freeze in the system? It should be replaced every 100,000km.
I would consider "flushing" the sump with a cheaper oil to make sure you get the sludge out the system. Sludge and carbon is an engine killer.
