I would definitely go for a 285.75.16 on a 7jj or 8jj rim.

Is your 4.5 manual or auto?

I have heard froam a couple of people that 285/75 R16 causes the auto-box to "hunt" at freeway speeds, but it is certainly better for most off-roading.

They should fit fine on your standard rims (if they are 16").

I have a 3.0 Diesel Auto on 285s with 50mm lift no problems whatsoever

I am considering changing my original Patrol 7JJ to black 8JJ steel rims, had some leaking problems seems to be solved now but it is always in the back of my head, seems I can get 5 rims for R2500.

Russ - are you looking for steel rims? I have a set that I'm not using...
