HIDs - Cape Town

Post by JohnBoyZA »

One of my best mods was my headlight replacement with HIDs, but over the last year I have had intermittent failures (loose connections et al) and have had various experts try and resolve the issue, but to no avail. So I have decided to just replace.

What is the latest and greatest - i.e. what's happened to the technology since I replaced my bulbs almost 3 years ago? Where should I buys and are there 1 stop installers in Cape Town. Need single bulb for GU-Y61.

Would appreciate your help. :helpsign:
Thanx

Hi John

I will be glad to help. Currently LED headlights are not feesible. The best upgrade one can do is changing to HID lamps. The cheapest and easiest solution is to get a replacement kit. I know Osram supplied e-car. I stand to be corrected but think it was in the region of R1500 suppied and installed.
I will make some enquiries at the office tomorrow and let you know more on availablity and product information. What headlight do you have? (H4, H7, etc)

Dino has offered to replace them with the newer version at no cost. That's service  ... watch this space. Will give you feedback once they're installed.

Mark, the bulb is an H3 (55W). I've always had the feeling the root cause tough are the little 'black boxes' supplying the power, but I'm clueless when it comes to electrics.
