Trip Report - Kubu & Bots Northern Parks 2012

Day 0 (24 March 2012):

Myself (1996 4.2 SGL), Tinus (2003 4.8 GRX), Gerrit (2001 4.5 GRX), Johan (2004 Hyundai Terracan 3.5 + Jurgens Xplorer) and Marius (1198 Prado 2.8 Diesel) meet at the Petroport north of Pretoria at 05h00 and head north, turning through Potties and on toward Groblersbrug. My Father had left the day before in his 2004 2.7 Hilux Legend 35, and Gustav met us just before the border post (another 2.7 Hilux).

The border crossing proved easy and speedy, nobody even got searched. We headed for the garage just inside the border and filled all our tanks and jerry cans, then headed for the pans via Palapye and Lethlakane. Just after our first sighting of the pans and just in time for sunset, we found my father where they had scouted a nice campsite for us.

Day 1:

Today Botswana welcomes us with a magnificent sunrise!

We have a lot to do today, so we push on for Kubu. At the turnoff to the shortcut, there is some mud but we decide to take the chance. The road proves fairly easy, with just enough mud to make things interesting. As we arrive at Kubu, a heard of springbuck bound (bounce?) away.

We find that we are alone and thus have the pick of the campsites. Shortly thereafter we start preparing for the wedding, wich is scheduled to start at 17h00.

Dawid jy verstaan nie Kubu het regte stof !!!!!maar waar ons die komfettie op die paartjie gegooi het was my suit en skoene skoon maar daarna het ek tou opgegee!!! my patrol het mos ligte matte in en moes 3 keer gewas word voor dit skoonerig gekom het na kubu en moremi se modder

Baie geluk Peter en Sonja en die fotos is baie nice en almal het dit baie geniet soos ek kan sien!!!
