Hi.

The switch is there to switch the fan on and off which is not needed I just like to have control.

I just did a trip to Cape Town towing an off-road trailer. My max EGT temps went to 600 C when climbing and average of 450 to 500 on the flats at 120KM/H. As soon as I went above 120 the temps climbed. I would recommend anyone towing not to go above 120 and stick to around 110, this way the temps stay nice and low.
