STEAM&SHINE

Post by Dr Chris »

Good Morning all,
Long time no visit, but being away so often, (another advantage of being on pension), AND I am in love with Kozi - over and over again! Mozambique is losing my interest fast!
By the way, I met someone (high up in the powers that be in Moz) who also sits on an advisory Committee to the Minister of Transport, and who confirms that the Ministry is fed up with these so called traffic cops who stop us all the time. Apparently it is a strict order from the top that such hinderances must not be condoned, nor any such bribes be paid up! The advice given to me was that we should insist on NOT giving our licence over, but to simply 'show' the officer concerned the licence (from behind a closed window e.g. front windsceen), and also to take note of his/her name and number, and to indicate that the matter will be reported either by phone call or SMS to the authorities for review. Also insist on a receipt!
It works! And I can prove it! The times when I have been "fined" everything is "cancelled" immediately, when I mention what I am going to do, and we are waved on with excellent politeness too!

But that is not what I wanted to tell you about.
I had the Nissan HB cleaned yesterday as a trial visit, with a new franchise in Durban called "STEAM&SHINE". Brilliant!!
It was advertised on friday afternoon by East Coast Radio's Damon Beard, and for a special price of R90!! This price will not last long as the normal price is R150.
The process is essentially a mini auto valet, steam cleaning the exterior and interior under pressure (150 celsius at 10 bar), but the result is fantastic! It literally makes your vehicle look brand new!
I am taking the patrol next week, as it takes at least an hour, and there is a long waiting time as well, so I will leave it with them for the day.

The actual process uses minimal amounts of water (about 4 litres only), which is specially filtered, per car. This is followed up 'lifting' of the debris (oil, dust particles, etc.) by the heat of the steam, called "claying", and this is is wiped off and replaced with a wax type polish and paint restorer. But read about it on the Internet, as it is well known in the EU and the USA.

Nice process for those of us who enjoy the 4x4 routes and a clever way of getting rid of all the dust and accumulation of dirt etc. in every nook and cranny in the vehicle (even the air flow dusts and aircon pipes) and much better than I have ever seen before in any car wash outlet. And the pricing is really good too.

Regards,
Chris.
