Good day gents

I am currently looking at getting myself a 4.5 Patrol and there is 1 that I am looking at but need sum advice.

It is a 2000 GRX with 199K kilo, Burnco front and rear bumpers, snorkel, Iron Man suspension and 33's A/T tyres and all of this for R160K. Is this a competitive price or is it a little over priced? MY feeling is for that price a set of M/T would be better. Is there anything that I must look out for? My concern is that I pay that amount of money then a couple of months later I find out that the shocks needs replacing and we know that the Iron Man setup doens't come cheaply so how do I give the vehicle a thorough check out?

I would say that price is reasonable, but not spectacular, assuming everything is in good working order.

If there is a service history, you should be able to determine how old the shocks are?

Make sure there are no noises from the drivetrain and suspension, check the oil and water etc. and make sure all the 4x4 bits work properly. Particularly the diff lock. Make sure everything is straight underneath and check for rust or signs of repair.

Some of the tire fitment places have equipment for testing shocks.

Remember that BF A/T's are more expensive than BF Muddies, although they should work out marginally cheaper because they last longer.

Pryse op daai Patrols is relatief en laer KM speel groter rol as jaarmodel - As daai 'Trol in so 'n toestand is dat jy vir die volgende ±2 jaar NIKS hoef te vervang nie - dan is dit 'n kopie - anders kyk maar nog bikki rond vir daai geld.

NOU - jy issi nuut nie - so KOM KOM KOM waa is daai kiekies ????

Oom Mac ek wil graag nog my Silver Dream Racer behou as ek kan en ek stem tenvolle saam dat ek nie gou geld wil spandeer op die Patrol nie anders sal dit werd wees nie.

Uncle Mac, daardie ene is Johan se nuwe 4.8, nie die 4.5 wat hy wil verkoop nie, maar ek weet hulle lyk baie na mekaar .
