Faulty Central Locking Actuator (Apparently)

The central locking in the passenger side front door on Imvubu seems to be faulty. When locking or unlocking the vehicle using the remote control or the master switch on the driver side door, the front door actuator emits a kind of ticking/growling noise and tries to move the lock linkage, but does not succeed in moving it far enough to actually lock the door.

I have removed the door trim and sealing plastic and all the linkages seem to be OK. I have tried to lubricate the linkages, but this has made no difference. I assume that there are delicate bits of linkage in the actuator that might be worn/jammed so my next step would be to remove the actuator and see about taking it apart.

Has anyone perhaps done this? Any ideas?

If it is the actuator, get a set of three actuators (and one sender) from AutoStyle for R150. Or spend R250 and get four actuators (the "remote" kit)...

I removed the actuator (bit of a fiddly job requiring something like an offset Philips screw driver or just a very short stumpy one) and cleaned it as well as the linkage properly. Everything was very dusty and grimy. The actuator seemed to work OK outside the door. I refitted everything and now it all works as it should.

I suspect some part of the linkage must have been jammed and restored by removing and refitting it all, but this seems too easy. I will keep an eye on it for a while.
