Russ you are looking for the following part number for the glow plugs:

NGK 4937Y-707RS

They are sold individually, so you need that X6

Let us know if you come right, as I need to buy a set soon as well!

I've used:
  • VSP brand, part number ELP.PN135
  • HKT brand, part number PN-135
The box of the HKT part stated that it was actually intended for a Nissan TD27, and the sales slip for the VSP ones mentioned something about glow plugs for an Isuzu. I guess these things are a lot like spark plugs that fit more than one motor...

The part numbers that Ross gave are the ones I put in. They really did the job....and have about 20,000km's on so far. These are specified for the TD42. They come out in both 12V and 24V versions...so make sure you get the right one for your trucks specifications.

I paid R600 for 6 of them (end of 2008)

Big problem - I got them, but i didn't know about the 12v or 24v story, i thought only the cruisers had 12 and 24v differences. Now what? They working, so thats good, but i don;t want to damage anything? If they were the wrong voltage, would they be working?

i think you ended up with the correct ones...

If they were meant for a 24V system they're likely to have a bigger resistance than the 12V ones (to limit current flow, thereby retaining the same wattage rating). As a result of that, they'd generate only about half the heat (i.e. "glow") when used with a 12V system, same effect as putting 24V bulbs into a 12V headlamp. Remember that wattage translates directly into heat!

So: 24V glow plugs won't damage the electrical system, will consume less current whilst working but will probably be useless in winter
