Why 7J, why not 8J?

If you cna get a set of Cruiser steel rims, they have the perfect offset for the GU.

Try BURQUIP in Jet Park, Johannesburg. They supply all sizes PRO-WHITE rims. If they do not have the off-sett you require in stock, they will have it made. No need to bother with spacers.

I bought a new set of 16" rims for my trailer to match my car rims @ R285 (ex VAT) a piece some 16 months ago.

The 7J rim has a nominal width between flanges (i.e. where the tyre mounts) of 7", while an 8J has a width of, yip, you guessed it 8". Every tyre has an allowable rim width range that is specified by the manufacturer. For instance, the BFG All Terrain T/A KO 265/75R16 can be fitted to rims in the width range 7' to 8" according to the manufacturers spec sheet, while the 285/75R16 version of that tyre needs rims in the range of 7.5" to 9".

The standard 16" diameter rims for the Patrols sold here was 8JJ-16, i.e. 8" wide, 16" diameter. The J and JJ specify different rim profiles. I believe the JJ profile is better at keeping the tyre from debeading at very low pressures.

Quite right about the rim width recommendation of 7.5 -9 , however, i purposefully ran my ran my 285's on 7 j rims with no problems at all to date.
