I'm very naive on all things www. How does one gain revenue from such a forum . You mentioned you needed to move it to germany to cut costs down, but how does it all work, for us out there who know nothing about this stuff. Please advise, i'll be "the intelligent one" at my next braai when i bring it up "in conversation"

No income is generated from the forum. We have discussed various income streams such as sponsorship, advertisements, Google ads etc., BUT I feel this will detract from the free and open nature of the forum. This should be our forum and nobody should stifle or restrict our input.
So what does it costs? Well, besides the development time undertaken by myself and the time spend by moderators on maintenance, there is a direct hosting cost. Because of the large throughput (bandwidth) requirement, this has been costing me approximately R500/month and hence, the move to the German server where it’ll be substantially less.
Hope this clears up a few things.
