4.8 Oil Filter

Post by ra_01 »

Hi Guys

Little help. Parts Manager at Nissan Midrand has suggested a substitute oil filter 65F0A as they don't have stock of 31U0B. I see the 65F0A is little smaller so i may have to replace it sonner. However i do have a terrain tammer as well but i prefer to use TT as if i cant get a Nissan Guinune filter.

Is it OK to use 65F0A or would you recommend TT? Pics of all three are below.

Thanks

I see the 4.8 also use a Z226 GUD filter (same as 4.5)... The Z226 filter is 8.5cm high. How tall is the NIssan filters.
Bigger filter will probably be better than the smaller nissan filter. in my opinion.
I f you already have the TT filter, use it...

I got a Z226 filter abvailable if anyone is in need of one. (dont own a 4.5 anymore).

I ended up using the Nissan small oil filter height 7cm. It has same pressure as the taller (8cm) version.

Weirdly Goldwagen also recommends the smaller version for patrol 4.8

As for oil I used Liqui moly 5W30. I wanted to use Shell 10w30 but I couldn't find it in Midrand. Nissan dealers also uses 5W30 apparently. I pored in exactly 6.8 Liters, and dip stick level looked ok. However, after running the engine for sometime, oil level showed low. Does it take some time for the oil to settle in the tank? Or should I pour more?

I never checked the oil after running the engine

I'd rather run Delo 400 15W40 but that's just me.

After first filling the oil, you need to start the engine to pump oil into the filter.
Secondly, you need to allow some time (10 minutes) to drain all the oil in the head back into the sump before you check the level.
