Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Fitting instructions for 4.8l models:
1) Remove plastic cover/wind deflector in front of steering arms. Retain bolts.
2) Remove recovery hook and steel cover under radiator. Retain bolts and recovery hook.
3) Make sure you have the following bolts: 7off M8 about 20mm long, and 4off M14 fine thread. All bolts should be high tensile Grade 8.8 minimum.
4) Fit bash plate and recovery hook using bolts mentioned above.

I did not like the way that the bashplate went so low near the ground (Not that it went any lower that the diff). Granted when I can afford a upgrade it would have been better and Peter planned the hight with my wish for a upgraded suspension in mind but still I did not like it and thus made some modifications.

Peter - i heard some talk of transfer case protectors/plates. Aside from the steering gaurd/bashlpate have you made any other undercarriage protection?

At last i managed to get a picture of the Bash plate installed. A couple off us went out last weekend to Mahem and got this picture.

Bashplate fitted today after collecting from Stefan (thanks!). Just having a small problem with accessing the M14 bolt at the front of the right side recovery point which when fitted makes it very tight to get in there with a 19mm spanner but will try tighten some more in the morning, possibly may cut a little of the bash plate away to make more access for a socket but as is galv so am reluctant to cut...

Looks great on and feel I can now tackle some of the heavier rocky stuff with less chance of a ding ending my day out prematurely! Cheers Peter

I had the same problem but it helps if you loosen everything and just tap the bash plate slightly more to the right to create more space as it has a few millimeters play

Wanderer: what did you attach the spots to and do they not vibrate?

Spots were already attached straight onto the bumper when I bought the vehicle but seems it is possibly not an ideal mounting point as one of them is pulling though the molding. Possibly with a small plate mounted underneath would improve this. Not noticed any vibration.

Just had my bash plate fitted but it seems to obscure the recovery points, is there a recovery point mod I can maybe fit. For a 2007 4.8grx.

Dave I am not sure what jou mean? with the bash plate fitted you should easily be able to fit a shackle to the recover point?
