On inspection of Lazarus' engine - Gerhard showd me that the Patrol engine has a ceramic coating on top of the piston - but there is a "hollow" [like champagne bottle bottom] on top of the piston and it is in that hollow that the pistons "burn through" and then HANDGRANADE

Gerhard at SAC and Mynhard have been looking after my Troll since late 96. After fitting the Safari Turbo and inter cooler at 36 k km it was confirmed by Safari that EGT's should not exceed 650C. This will lead to pre- mature engine failure. I have always had the Troll set up constitutively and boost is set at 8 lbs. With this I make around 87Kw on the wheels and this is more than enough for me. I addition I have now achieved 370k with out any problems.

OB 1 - to now they have been looking after both my 3.0 Diesel Nissan 4x4's - The HardBody and the Patrol.
They are not cheap, but their work I cannot fault.
At least they do a better job than the agents I previously frequented - and when it comes to 3,0 diesel Nissan engines, few can beat Gerhard on that because he drives one - to the max, kind of "self testing" to see how far he can take it [and it is still going strong .. no handgranade ... ]
Boezman must get his EGT "Madman", then the Terrano must follow .... and I'm sure SAC will do the job.
so - goe talk to them, put your mind at ease - but it is your decision at the end of the day.
If I stop going to SAC, I will take my cars to Mark White Nissan [it is far - but I dont have confidence in the dealers around Pretoria [ten times bitten - forever shy]
