Well done on the head price from Nissan.... Tell us about that too...
As for the pistons, I think I paid R600 /piston for Half keystone pistons and rings with Alfin inserts..... but don't know if the std pistons will be correct for the turbo and the extra heat generated.

Well thanx to ricster and the part numbers walked in at my local Nissan dealer and he gave me a great price. I'm still struggling on the pistons though. What is an alfin insert and where can they be found. I tried master part in the beginning for pistons But all they've got is oversize 20 with No rings available. So any other help and suggestions Will be more than welcome. I'm keeping the sleeves standard. As Well as the crank.

I don't have a workshop manuel so I'm doing everything med head and from the info I can get anywhere else. And Google, its a shame that patrols are so underrated in south africa in Australia you can get anything and everything of shelf for them and its cheap. A patrol is just as good as a cruiser if not better in some places. Interesting bit of info I came across yesterday the new 4.2d land cruisers have a timing belt on the lower part of the engine. I saw one at the engineering shop my block is at. It had bent all the valve's! Patrol have gears!

Hi Guys,
Sorry for a little bit of a hi-jack here.
ricster wrote:Post a pic of your diesel pump too please. With the turbo now being added, you need to be able to fuel correctly. You might need an android thingy ( boost compensator) to adjust the diesel while boosting.
Cedric,
Could you elaborate a bit more please?
I recon that was the problem with my turbo'ed GQ, there was a "flat" spot when I accelerated hard at about 2500rpm, cruising was fine. I thought it had to do with diesel starvation. Leon at SAC Boksburg did some testing and reckoned there was a negative pressure just before the pump

. To rectify this he installed a electric fuel pump, sommer a cheapy, just before the filters. Problem solved.
André,
Het jy enige sulke probleme gehad voor die tyd? Hoe het jy agter gekom die Head was gekraak?
Skies ek vra so baie, ek wil maar net n bietjie wyser raak aangaande die Patrollies

Good Day
Nice job Ricster. You know you td42.
Andre, Cedric told you the lot. I only could add the pistons. Go for turbo one, from Masterparts in Cape town.
You can buy my turbo setup. Manifold, turbo and pump. (no intercooler).
I am also busy building a diffirant thermostat housing (I am still busy Cedric) that I beleave will fix the cooling problem on a 4.2 diesel turbo or not!
Some where on this forum are pics of how I did a bypass convertion for the water on the head. I would recomend that too. I will look for the thread.

Ok the pistons I'm still struggling with I found a set of autopower pistons apparently for the turbo 4.2. From alert auto parts in Jhb found mik pump and water pump there too mains and big ends come from ae and the gasket is either Payen or victor reinz. So all I'm worried about is the pistons. As for my diesel injection pump I had an issue like it had a negative pressure But that was at about 315000km and all I did was to have the pump and injectors redone and from there No issues.

Nooit olie of water verloor of ñ positiewe gas toets in sy water gehad.
