I suspect then that the best option is to keep it as open as possible, except that I would use a solid floor.

Cedric, I am watching you! :rolling:

Looking at the engine bay the "only" open space to put the second battery is on the passenger side above the exhaust manifold where the most heat is created. If you can put it on the same side as the primary battery it should be better but I think underneath is quite a good idea. The best way to cross water is to find a way around it. haha !! http://www.patrol4x4.co.za/images/smilies/lol.gif

Had a look at the underside of the car yesterday – there is not much depth there. A decent sized battery may have to hang below the level of the chassis rail. Could be done but one would just need to be aware of it and the underside should be a decent plate.

As to the engine bay, the easiest is probably going to be to move the water washer bottle (to where I am not sure…) and the air conditioning lines so that you can fit a second battery between the existing battery and the right-hand headlight.

As matters now stand my inclination is to possibly simply incorporate something into the drawer system at the back of the vehicle.

Th battery sizes vary from 170mm to 240mm in height. I must measure mine to get the exact height plus clearance.

If you take 2 or 3 of those and connect in parallel, does the Ah double up? in other words if you take 3 x 40Ah batteries connected in parallel will that give you 120A/h?

Yeah I want to look at that. Cause I believe they are quite small and compact.

Yes, if you connect them in parallel, the total capacity is the sum of the individual capacities.

Thanks Gerrit

Can these batteries lie on their sides, or must they be straight up?
