My back up 85L/min thumper is rated at 18amps for what it worth? 35's will be a killer for that I would think.

And 15min duration time is an indication of its duty cycle. It will be something like 75% duty cycle. 15min won't get 4 x 35s from 0.8 to 2bar, I'm almost sure of that.

I Bought 2 of those 160 L/min Adendorf compressors, think about R1400
Hooking up both works very well but my alternator just cant keep op with roughly 90A. I believe the petrol engines has bigger alternators and could cope better. I have researched the issue quite extensively and the other 2 alternatives is either:

ARB twin piston at roughly R10 000 but pumps insanely well

Endless air system with a second Air con compressor and quite a bit of fiddling around to get it to work, I think a air con pump would be about R2000, then you have to consider brackets (possibly laser cut) belts, fittings, time, effort and the testing of ones patients in trying to make it work and fit, electrical, cutout pressure switch etc.... And suddenly one has equated easely R10 000 now that I think of it.

Considering that I have built quite a complicated system with the cheap adendorf compressors that seem to be the best alternative at the moment, even the effort I have spent and "school fees" I might as well have just bought the ARB one and get it over with.

One thing I can certainly say it that is very pleasant to have a built in system. It proved itself again this last trip that the ones with loose compressors would rather wait for me than to take out their pipes and bags and wires and open the bonnet and balance the whole contraption on the bumper because otherwise it sucks in sand.... But I also have proved hoe difficult one can make it on yourself

Tijmen...yes 90amps has me worried, or what's the rating for an TB45E alternator??

And this is why they don't last. Because pumping three or four car's tires will exceed the duty cycle.

There is another theoretical option for the GQ owners.
The GQ's gearbox has an opening for an optional Power Take-off.

Just wish one could actually find the adapter. I have seen only one.

Piet do you think it would be possible to connect an old winch motor to a aircon pump? I am not sure what rpm the winch motor turns but seems one would need about 2000 rpm and would be durable enough to be mounted to the chassis.

Interesting concept, but I would have thought that a winch motor would suck Amps out of the battery just as fast as running your duel compressors. However I'm no electrical expert so may be way off the mark

I have a old air compressor pump that should work well but not sure about the lubrication to stop it over heating and seizing - find a place to bolt it on the engine and fit belt drive, fit a small air tank etc then have the clutch work on a switch like it works when the aircon gets switched one.... will it work?
