So dropped by at the local nuts and bolts in Krugersdorp R800 for 24 studs and nuts :surprised:

So that is Nissan R5,568 al the way to only R800 for exactly the same thing - how do they justify that???????????????

Another question - for the nut one can get the closed or open nut - which is best suited for 4x4?? was thinking the open nut will be more prone to mud getting in the nut itself??

I like the look of the open nut??

And lastly at this price I am going to fit three additional studs and nuts on the spare wheel so they are the same as the rest of the vehicle - just make more sense to me.......

Did you get slightly longer studs?

I prefer closed nuts to keep mud etc off of the treads, but with open nuts you are not restricted on the stud length. With the courser thread ( Nissan stud threads are finer ) I would opt for the longer studs and open nuts, unless you can get studs 6 odd mm longer

Closed nuts are probably slightly better (for the reason already mentioned), although it probably doesn't make much difference.

You want to have a minimum of 1.5 x diameter (ie 18mm) thread engagement, but these closed nuts are much longer than that, so it should not be too difficult to get a stud of such length that it will work both with and without the 6mm spacers.

guys I seem to remember that the Mitsubishi also used a 1.25 mm stud on the EVO models and the shank size is the same as the Nissan safari :mytwocents:

It is crazy the mark up they have on the parts ,they can give you 50% discount and will still make 200% profit..and unlike the German manufacturers ,they have Goldwagen etc that sells and aftermarket product at a third of the agents price
and over the counter now.....
