Nissan Patrol 4x4 (Africa)

Hi ricster, it is the bushes where the sway bar connects to the axle. I have replace my standard shocks and now there seems to be movement of the sway bar. The bushes are slightly warn and thus the bar moves up and down.
When driving over even rough tar surfaces with small bumps it seems that I get a rapid hoping motion in the suspension. I hope this is the solution?

G-Man, Nissan only sells the entire sway bar unit and not the bushes separately, or do you know an agent who does?

Can't someone machine these locally?

Ruben, you're barking up the wrong tree I'm afraid. Sway bar bushes can't do what you describe.

Sounds to me like shocks or shock mounting rubbers.

Only bushes you replace your Patrol's bushes with is Genuine Nissan agents bushes, last longest.

1 - Panhard bushes wear out prematurely if your steering damper is kaput, those little wobbles at 80-90 kph takes it's toll.
2 - Only replace bushes with the real Nissan part
3 - Apparently for the Y60 you can buy bushes loose from Nissan, but for Y61 only the whole Panhard, not sure of the rest of the suspension stuff

But:

My Patrollie 4.2D(onkey) has done 729 613 km and I have only replaced the Steering Damper x 2, Panhard x2, No/nothing/zip else all still seems fairly OK (touch wood)
I sometimes do notice slight jumping on uneven tar - I am told that can be the bushes of the trailing arms...makes sense

On the Y61 the agents only sell/list complete kits but most of it is the same as on the Y60. If you can get a Y60 serial number you should be able to source the individual parts.

I replaced my panhard bushes some time ago - here's the part numbers:

Lower Bush (all models) 55135 01J01
Upper Bush (std type) 55135 01J10
Upper Bush (Balljoint Type) 40110 VC000
