Thank you for your help sofar!
My regular mechanic is not making any progress (even with the worshop manual. Thanks David!!) and the autobox experts and the engine guys cannot agree where the fault should be looked for.
My baby is going to the dealer-mechanic for a computer analysis in 2 day's time. I' let you know what they come up with.
Hopefully a faulty sensor or a mere re-programming....

Moet dalk oor ‘n bier gesels.

That is interesting - Looking at his stats, yes it seems there is a definite improvement in consumption - time will tell though as there are many factors that can influence these numbers - especially when you do a mod like this and you are subconciously driving lighter with the foot...
Would be good to get more stats after more tankfulls.
Has he noticed any extra torque or better response at low RPM manouvering?

Chris, I also did the Aussie mod last week and on my first trip to Cpt it seems like there is a definite improvement in fuel consumption. I normally get approx 100km per 1/4 of tank (on the petrol gauge) and with my tank gauge on half I already did 239 km's

- but as you said - only time will tell if it's really working. I haven't filled up as yet but will do so once the tank nears empty, to get a better average. To make me wonder even more is that on my way to Cpt a cold front was moving in and the wind was hectic and was making driving difficult as I was driving against the wind
Although it is subjective it feels like I'm already enjoying the Patrol even more with the more gutso at low RPM. Maybe it's in my head - but I genuinely enjoy the drive around town more - ek wil hom net die heeltyd gas gee !!!
Ps. with my larger tyres there is a 7% difference on the speedo.

Yes Jan, its probably too early to tell, you will have better indication once you have gone through a couple of tanks.
The thing is, its hard to explain why there is would be an improvement on a long trip because the throttle is wide open which means the vanes would have been in the same position that you have now tied it in anyway- but somehow it does seem to make a difference. I agree the more responsive throttle at low rpm though.

Chris,
According to manual with the torque converter locked the Patrol (Auto) should be cruising at roughly 160km/h with half throttle.
Thus you must be hitting it hard to have the throlle wide open on the long road
I am also running the mod but I did it from day one so have no "before" referrence.

Jules and Jan Dup.
Any further conclusions on the performance aspects of doing the Aussie Mod?
