Hi David

I have picked my van up from the gearbox specialist and the problem is still there.
Not nearly as bad as it was before the service but it is there.
The gearbox is definatly smoother when selecting drive or reverse and the drive seems alot more responsive.
Cost R1000 bokkies so not too bad.

I tested the van around town for half an hour and tried all the usual roads that I travel and also uphills and downhills, with the aircon on and off and in 2 wheel high and 4 wheel high and the problem is there all the time except for when I stop on an uphill.
It is definatly a softer bump when the aircon is off and/or the road is level...
If I roll to a stop in neutral there is no thump which I can say eliminates the diff's? Or is it that there is no tension on the diffs and so eliminating the thump?

Also if I come to a stop with my foot off the accelerator long befor I apply the brake and then roll to a complete stop at a very slow speed with my foot very lightly on the brake there is no bump.

I am completely stumped with this one and would appreciate any further ideas/sugestion's. :helpsign:
Regards
Adrian

At a stop I have to keep my foot on the brake otherwise the Trol moves forward - I wonder if all autos do that? (My idle speed is +-750 rpm)
I still think there is nothing wrong with our auto boxes - it just need some type of adjustment to fix this irritation.

Hi Chaps
I dont know if this will help but I had the same problem on my 2007 4.8grx Patrol. You can phone Jaco at Mayfair Gearbox in Jhb on 011 493 2157. Without getting too technical Jaco will explain it in detail for you but it was the settings on the differential causing the problem on mine. He fitted I think a spacer to the differential to set the diff to factory specification and seems to be sorted. After much investigation Mayfair/ Nissan SA Technical experts seem to have located the problem and sorted it out. I suspect you may have the same problem on your vehicles.
Cheers
Dave

Guys does it do it in "sport" mode, with the gear lever over to the left? I had a steptronic (auto) bmw that used to clunk into first at a stop, except when it was in sport. Never got the bottom of it unfortunately, but principles could be the same ?
