Het nou die dag 4 nuwe goodyear wrangler AT/SA's op gesit in keetmans vir 7.5K. Dis nou nie ons sizes nie. Dit was 245/70R16. Maar ja.....ek het nie geweet mens kan 4 bande opsit nog vir so min nie. Ek was geskok toe ek die invoice kry, maar n goeie skok.
As jy kyk na 32" en 33" kyk jy na 18k en op.

Hi Peter,

I am also using my Patrol as a daily drive with similar annual km.

I know Mt's look very cool and with you driving skills you would most likely also use their added capability once in a while when going off-road.

The question is... (considering your circumstances / driving patterns) ..... would not the best MT be an AT ??considering that an AT should be significantly cheaper in every aspect + should give you more mileage.

What is this all terrain tires you are speaking of.....

Henning, I have actually been looking at both AT and MT.

I found it a very interesting exercise, but suffice to say that there are very few AT's available in my chosen size, and those typically only from the "premium" brands, which are far too expensive for me.
Secondly (and perhaps slightly faceatiously), I feel about muddies a bit like I feel about firearms.
Carrying a 6.35mm pistol is a lot more comfortable than carrying a 9mmP. But whereas the 9mmP can be reasonably relied upon to solve any problem you may encounter, the 6.35 definitely can't. And therefore, one carries a 9mmP and drives on muddies...

Cedric, that's the problem.

I have a lot of respect for the KL71's, but my budget doesn't care. Also, they are not available in the size I want to try (255/85R16).

Within the known brands, the Dunlop appears to be by far the cheapest.

Maxxis Bighorn het ook n 255/85r16, maar wat ek voorheen oor hulle gelees het, gee hulle maar ook nie veel km's nie...
Toyo Open Country het ook hierdie grote. kan nie kommentaar lewer oor prys en beskikbaarheid nie..

Ek het bo in Botswana omie raakgeloop met die nuwe Sjinees bande op sy L C bakkie en hy was liries oor die goed. Het 38 000 op en nog oor helfte van hul myle lewe oor so oppi oog af en geen blokkies gebreek of chips nie. [daai potholes van Bots is WOES]
Hy het hulle nou so net oor 2 jaar op .. teen ongeveer 2 K per band is dit dalk 'n oorweging ?

Fanus, ek is 'n "once bitten, twice shy" tipe ou. Ek het een keer 'n stel Toyos op 'n kar gehad. Nooit weer nie. En ek het ook al te veel stories van MAxxis gehoor.

Oom Mac, paar goedjies:
1) Dit help nie as ek nie weet wat die naam is nie.
2) My bietjie ondervinding is dat band-slytasie versnel soos die band ouer word.
3) Ek probeer die sjinese so ver moomtlik boycot. Ek weet dis eintlik onmoontlik, want alles kom deesdae van daar af, maar ek doen wat ek kan.

Die lewe is maar swaar as jy vol stront is...
